Daniela Capistrano at Brown University: Speaker Series 2 of 3

  • Brown University: Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender 26 Benevolent St Providence, Rhode Island USA (map)

Join us for an evening of zine-making guided by Daniela “Dani” Capistrano (she/they), founder of the POC Zine Project. The POC Zine Project (@poczineproject on Twitter and IG) mission since 2010 has been “to make all zines by people of color easy to find, distribute, and share.” Dani will give a brief overview of the zine medium and guide participants in the creation of their own zine. Workshop participants will receive a tote bag filled with paper, markers, scissors, colored pencils, and other materials needed for making zines. In addition, all participants will receive a printed copy of TransLash Zine: Pride Month Edition (https://translash.org/zine/), a trans & gender non-conforming affirming zine sponsored by POC Zine Project and Transgender Law Center. This event is aimed at first-year students, but all are welcome to attend (supplies are limited).

Sponsored by the Brown Center for Students of Color, LGBTQ Center, Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender’s Women’s History Series, and the Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income Student Center
